Preppers

Isn’t it about time we all started to prepare?
The UNSW Centre for Ideas recently launched a new podcast, Preppers, hosted by Dan Ilic. As we sun ourselves on an ever-warming planet, continue to bandy around new COVID variants, and sigh about what’s to be done about the state of the world, this five-part series explores who is preparing for climate change and how, and the challenges facing us as individuals and communities in dealing with its psychological and societal impacts. The podcast draws attention to the disparity between the increasingly frequent and severe natural disasters we experience, and our inaction or lack of preparedness for such events in future.
Good Point Design was invited to create a visual identity for Preppers, including artwork for each episode. The design approach conveys the central themes of the series, and leans into the surreality of the situation we find ourselves in. The artwork features distorted landscapes, fragmented imagery, and juxtaposed elements that contrast the looming threat of climate change with our (so far inadequate) attempts to address or prepare for it.
